12-23-10: Road trip!

Hello hello!!!
Well, I am SO sorry for not updating in nearly a month, but I've been staying quite busy... :)
But, the other week was probably one of my favorite activities that kept me busy, and no, it wasn't horseback riding(Though, that was really fun too!!!).
My grandpa has some hunting land about two hours north of where I live and we got to go up and see it.
They are building this AMAZING cabin up there right now, here are some pics of our trip!!

So... this is just a little silver of the view... isn't it just beautiful???!!! It felt like Narnia, lol I kept expecting to see Lucy, Peter, Susan and the Beavers to pop out from behind a tree or something. :)

This is the front of the cabin. It isn't finished yet, but it soon will be!!

On our way there, we stopped at a restaurant and I was OBSESSED with these old chairs!!! I just had to take a pic of them, this older couple sitting at the next table over were a little confused by me I think... lol

My road trip lifesavers!!!! Coffee, DP and my ipod full of amazing tunes that my fam doesn't exactly want to listen to over, and over, and over, and over again... lol :) (Oh, and then of course my polka dotted pillow!! Though, I can't sleep in the car, so it didn't help that much :-/)

In the target parking lot, bathroom stop for my bros. Like my purple hat?????!! lol, and then of course my temporary "love" tattoo on my wrist there, to support TWLOHA(To Write Love On Her Arms)... even though that was well over a month ago, I keep writing it back on my wrist, :) lol :)
Well, I hope y'all have an AMAZING Christmas!!!! Always remember the reason for the season though, Jesus Christ came down as a little, helpless baby just so he could save us.
Merry CHRISTmas!!!!!!!!

11-30-10: This Will Keep Us All Thinking...

Hey, :)
Okay, this video that I am about to show you I'm sure that many of you have seen before. It is pretty popular, but everytime I watch it, it still really does just what the title says, it keeps me thinking.
So, take five minutes and thirty seconds to just sit and watch this video, or at least the first three minutes and twenty seconds. Stop and think... what would you have chosen? What will you choose?

Leave me a comment if you want if you have your own thoughts on this video :)

Have a great rest of your day,
Kayla

11-13-10: SNOW!!!!!

Let it snow! Let it snow! Let it snow!!!!!!!!!
Yes, it did snow last night! Imagine my excitment when I woke up to find the ground covered with snow and huge flakes falling from the sky! (I was very excited! lol)
I ran downstairs and raced to find my snow clothes and skis.(Okay... confession time... I sent my bro up into the attic to get my boots and skis... it is scary up there!!)
I went sledding with my little sis and had a snowball fight with my bros and one of their friends. I'd forgotton how much fun they were. :D :D
Here are some pictures of our first snow of the year!!(I think we got between 6 and 8 inches)

Yes... it is just barely 32 outside so our snow is very wet... :(

BUT! The wet snow was great for making a snowman!! :D

Isn't it pretty?? :)

Well, I should go back outside and enjoy the wonderful snow, have a great day!! Here is a song to leave you with... :)

11-12-10: So strange and some random(pretty awesome and then suckish) news

Hey, hey!! :-D

Oh my... can y'all believe that it is already November??? It feels like just yesterday we were shouting, "Happy 2010!!", and before we know it we'll be shouting, "Happy 2011!"
I cannot believe that Christmas is right around the corner... and guess what? We got a winter storm weather warning today! Around 6 inches of snow supposedly tomorrow!!!!! I'm SOOO excited! Breaking out those skis finally!! :-D

Well, other than being in total shock that the best year of my life is quickly coming to an end(D':)
I've been keeping rather busy.
I finally got to canter on the rail this week!!!!!!! And, if I do say so myself, I rocked it! Lol
But seriously, the BEST feeling in my life! Cantering around the arena, and the horse I was riding(Oreo) has a really fast canter(nearly gallop speed at times) I literally felt like I was flying. I felt like I could do anything... like anything that came my way I could come out on top.
And then I went to the dentist. (xP)
Recently I broke a tooth(very painful I might add). So, we went to our family dentist to go find out what to do about it and realized that the tooth behind it(my 12 yr old molar) has been coming in at a weird angle. I kinda already knew this, but didn't really think much of it. I figured it would straighten out eventually(Though... it had been quite a few years since it started to come in...).
Long story short, after consulting with another dentist, we just decided to have the tooth(my broken 6 yr old molar) pulled out so that the one behind it would come in straight.
Yeah... well, that didn't work.
First try, the Novocaine didn't work. My tooth was infected some how and for some reason that made it so the Novocaine numbed everything around my tooth... except my tooth. :(
But, we didn't know this... so they tried to pull it out with NO NOVOCAINE!! I was bawling my eyes out, pale as paper and shaking like a... well, I was shaking pretty violently. My pain tolerance is high, and this was the worst thing I have ever gone through. I NEVER want to go through it again. I later told some of my friends that I would have rather been trampled by a horse than go through that experience.
I got put on antibiotics to kill the infection, but apparently that STILL didn't work so they put me under to pull the tooth out. It was really strange, the laughing gas made me a little quirky and then they put an IV in my arm to completely knock me out.(THANK-YOU DENTIST!!!!!!!!) Though, my stupid vein didn't want to cooperate so they had to poke me several times. But, by that time I was totally out of it from the laughing gas so it was alright. :)
But, after all that the tooth FINALLY came out and I am A-okay!!!! I was a little fuzzy after I woke up, but that is normal I guess... it didn't take me too long though to get back to normal. :)

Also, I got highlights and low lights!!! Along with a pretty awesome haircut if I do say so myself. :D I absolutely love it and I am so happy with it all. :D
Hopefully I'll get a picture of my new do on here soon. :)

Oh! Oh! And I cannot forget! TAYLOR SWIFT'S NEW ALBUM CAME OUT!!!!!! I was SOO excited!!! I went out and bought it the first day it was in stores. :D I've listened to it probably close to 40 times already and I think my top five faves on the album are...
1.Enchanted
2.Sparks Fly
3.The Story of Us
4.Haunted
5.Speak Now
(In this order)

Well, that is all for this post! I hope y'all are having a great November and take advantage of the rest of 2010 to fulfill some dreams... I'm going to try.
If you want, leave me a comment and tell me what you really want to accomplish before 2010 comes to a close, I know that I want to finish at least one more book and tell someone about Jesus Christ's love and sacrifice. :)

Have a great November!

10-20-10: My latest book project plus clip!

Hey y'all! I hope you all are having a great week! I know I am. :D
As many of you know, I love, love, love writing and have written several books over the past two/three years. I've also shared with y'all some of my work, but I haven't done that in awhile.
My latest book project is called, Winning A Cowgirl's Heart. Here is the introduction and then a small clip of the book. :)

Kylie Walker has just turned eighteen and has just finished her senior year at her small town’s high school. She’s also the pastor’s eldest daughter and the best cowgirl ever to lay foot on the Montana hills… at least in this twenty-first century. This girl is definitely your all-American, country living girl.
Matthew Murray is eighteen and just graduated high school with a scholarship to Yale University. The one problem, he’s not sure what he wants to do with his life. His father may be a rich politician, and his step mother may be a best selling author, but he’s pretty sure neither road is the one he wants to take.
Then, he father tells him he’s being shipped half way across the country to stay at his uncle’s house for the summer, or for however long it takes for him to decide what he wants to do with his life.
Can these two teens, from two completely separate worlds, find common ground in the faith they were brought up with and find the love that belongs in their hearts for each other?

And here is the book clip!!

“Hey, boy… how’s it goin’?” Matt bent down to rub the long basset hound ears and then stood back to his full, five eleven height.
He walked to the back window and just stood there, watching the unmoving scenery.
He was just about to turn away when he saw a brownish colored horse race across his uncle’s field at practically the speed of light.
That’s when he saw her, Kylie was coming up fast on a black colored horse, her hands not even holding on to the saddle horn, but to a rope that was flying through the air.
Matt raced out the door again and ran for the field.
“Kylie!” Matt yelled at the teenage girl.
“Get in front of her!” She yelled back, not even glancing over in his direction.
Yeah right! Matt thought, but ran faster. He saw that they were about to make a sharp turn, he hoped that would slow the crazy animal down.
Running through a patch of trees, Matt made it to the other side before the horse. Though, the horse was close behind. But, the sight of Matt spooked her, and she reared. Stopping long enough for Kylie to catch up and throw the rope around her muscular neck.
“Gotcha!” Kylie yelled, pulling the rope back and then wrapping it tightly around the saddle horn.
“Nice going.” Matt smiled as Kylie pulled the other horse toward her.
“I couldn’t have done it without you. She’s a handful.”
“What’s her name?” Matt asked, taking a few steps towards the threesome.
Kylie raised her brow and gave a low chuckle. “Angel.”
Matt threw his head back and laughed long and hard.
“I didn’t name her, her owners did.”
“You don’t own her?”
“Heck no!” Kylie said pretty loud. “I’m horse sitting until July first. This is the third time she’s gotten out.”
“How does she get out?”
“The first two times she jumped her paddock, this time though she kicked down the stall door. I was just making my rounds to feed them, when I saw her run out the door.”
“How bad is the door?” Matt asked next, taking two more steps towards the freak horse.
Kylie sighed. “Really bad. She kicked it so hard it just broke in half. I’m going to have to go into town tomorrow and buy some wood to make a new one. I don’t know what I’m going to do with her until then.”
“You said she jumped the paddock?”
Kylie nodded. “Twice… she knows she can now.”
“Why don’t you work with her?” Matt tried, remembering what his uncle had said about showing her who she once was, and what he had said about her once being a great young trainer prodigy.
Kylie shook her head. “I don’t work with horses anymore. I’m sure my sisters have told you that.”
Matt was taken back by the force in her words. He didn’t want to argue, but he also knew that if someone didn’t whip this… freak horse into shape, she’d just continue to run away.
“Kylie,” Matt was now standing right next to the girl and her black horse. “if you don’t save this horse, what will happen to her?”
His words seemed to strike an old wound. Kylie winced and bit her lip. The two remained silent for nearly a minute before Kylie finally spoke again.
“Matt… I just, I can’t.”
“My uncle told me what your mom used to do, Kylie. I know she was a trainer.”
Kylie bit her lip harder.
“I know that is why you don’t want to train anymore.”
“You don’t know that!” Kylie spat out, her eyes narrowing.
“Then what? Just tell me. I want to be your friend but you keep pushing me away!”
“I ju-”
“If you won’t do the training, then show me how.”
Matt couldn’t believe what he had just said. Did he seriously just commit to training a horse? He knew nothing about them! How in the world could he train one?!
“You… want to train a horse? Do you even know how to ride?”
“Well,” Matt shrugged. “I’ve ridden those little ponies at the fair.”
Kylie laughed.
“No, I don’t need both of you getting yourselves hurt.”
“Then you do it. Because, Kylie… I know enough about horses to know that when one is as crazy as this one is, bad things happen to them.”
Kylie bent her head, she knew that too… she’d seen it happen too many times.
“I don’t know, Matt… it’s been two years since I’ve even stepped foot in our round pen.”
Matt took one more step. Kylie’s boot was now touching his chest he was so close.
“If it makes you feel better, I’ll go with you.”
Kylie bit her bottom lip and just shook her head.
“I promised myself that I’d never step a foot in that pen after…” Kylie paused and her gaze shifted towards the mountains.
“Do you really think that is what your mom would want?”
Kylie’s gaze shot back Matt. She stared into his dark, deep brown eyes. Was he right? Was that really want her mom wanted? Or would she want Kylie to continue her dream?
Kylie felt Prince shift beneath her, he was getting antsy just standing there.
“Tomorrow morning,” Kylie pulled the reins away from Matt, having Prince shift his large black head. “meet me at the pen. I’ll be waiting.”
Matt smiled and nodded. “I’ll be there.”

Well, what did you think?? Leave me a comment!!

Have a great rest of your week everyone!!

10-7-10:The best feeling

You wanna know what I consider one of the best feelings in the world?
The love between a horse and a girl.

It is something that no one can fake, no one can duplicate. It is something rare, and something beautiful.
Today I went for my lesson and I had to bring in my favorite school horse, Leo. Now, I've told y'all about Leo before. He is a seven year-old, 1,800+ pound paint Tobiano and one of the sweetest horses I know(sometimes... lol).
Anyway, I opened the paddock and grabbed his lead rope. I called his name softly and his head picked up from the other end of the long gated area.
I stood at the other end and waited. I didn't wait long though.
He was staring right at me, we made eye contact and it held until he stopped trotting right in front of me. My heart was already swelling that he'd actually come when I called him, but I was sure it would burst out of my chest when he happily nudged me with his big nose and then planted a sloppy wet horsey kiss on my cheek.
Some people don't understand why I am so in love with horses. They don't get why I got a job bleaching buckets of all things this past summer JUST so I could be around the creatures. Surely, they all thought. She could find something better to do with her time.

Today, I fell head over heels in love.
Head of heels in love with a four legged animal that is.
And I would have it no other way.

Have a wonderful rest of your week!

8-10-10: Chosen Generation lyrics and video

Hey everyone! Just thought I'd share with you a song that I heard on my mission trip. I absolutely love it and I sing it all day long(it drives my brothers insane... haha). Enjoy!

We are a chosen generation
Rise up, holy nation
God, we live for You

You have called us out of darkness
Into light so glorious
God, we live for You
We live for You
God, we live for You

We run with passion for Your name, we run
Freedom, You've broken every chain, we run
Our God will not be moved
Our God will never be shaken
We run to You, we run

We are a chosen generation
Rise up, holy nation
God, we live for You

You have called us out of darkness
Into light so glorious
God, we live for You

We run with passion for Your name, we run
Freedom, You've broken every chain, we run
Our God will not be moved
Our God will never be shaken
We run to You, we run

We are a chosen generation
Rise up, holy nation
God, we live for You

You have called us out of darkness
Into light so glorious
God, we live for You

Our God will not be moved
Our God will never be shaken
Our God will not be moved
Our God will never be shaken

Our God will not be moved
Our God will never be shaken
We run to You, we run

We are a chosen generation
Rise up, holy nation
God, we live for You

You have called us out of darkness
Into light so glorious
God, we live for You

'Cause You are everything
More than all we need
God, we live for You
God, we live for You

I've found this world to be
Not enough for me
God, we live for You
God, we live for You

God, we live for You
God, we live for You

We are a chosen generation
Rise up, holy nation
God, we live for You

You have called us out of darkness
Into light so glorious
God, we live for You

Come on, sing, we are
We are a chosen generation
Rise up, holy nation
God, we live for You

You have called us out of darkness
Into light so glorious
God, we live for You
We live for You
God, we live for You

Have a great Tuesday everyone!

8-2-10:An amazing story

I'm not really sure if this is a true story or not, but either way... it is amazing and I really wanted to share it with you. :)

This is great, take a moment to read it, it will make your day!
The ending will surprise you.

Take my Son

A wealthy man and his son loved to collect rare works of art. They had everything in their collection, from Picasso to Raphael. They would often sit together and admire the great works of art.
When the Vietnam conflict broke out, the son went to war. He was very courageous and died in battle while rescuing another soldier. The father was notified and grieved deeply for his only son.
About a month later, just before Christmas, There was a knock at the door. A young man stood at the door with a large package in his hands.
He said, 'Sir, you don't know me, but I am the soldier for whom your son gave his life. He saved many lives that day, and he was carrying me to safety when a bullet struck him in the heart and he died instantly. He often talked about you, and your love for art.' The young man held out this package. 'I know this isn't much. I'm not really a great artist, but I think your son would have wanted you to have this.'
The father opened the package. It was a portrait of his son, painted by the young man. He stared in awe at the way the soldier had captured the personality of his son in the painting. The father was so drawn to the eyes that his own eyes welled up with tears. He thanked the young man and offered to pay him for the picture.. 'Oh, no sir, I could never repay what your son did for me. It's a gift.'
The father hung the portrait over his mantle. Every time visitors came to his home he took them to see the portrait of his son before he showed them any of the other great works he had collected.
The man died a few months later..... There was to be a great auction of his paintings. Many influential people gathered, excited over seeing the great paintings and having an opportunity to purchase one for their collection.
On the platform sat the painting of the son. The auctioneer pounded his gavel. 'We will start the bidding with this picture of the son. Who will bid for this picture?'
There was silence..
Then a voice in the back of the room shouted, 'We want to see the famous paintings. Skip this one.'
But the auctioneer persisted. 'Will somebody bid for this painting? Who will start the bidding? $100, $200?'
Another voice angrily.. 'We didn't come to see this painting. We came to see the Van Goth's, the Rembrandt's.. Get on with the real bids!'
But still the auctioneer continued. 'The son! The son! Who'll take the son?'
Finally, a voice came from the very back of the room. It was the longtime gardener of the man and his son. 'I'll give $10 for the painting...' Being a poor man, it was all he could afford.
'We have $10, who will bid $20?'
'Give it to him for $10. Let's see the masters.'
The crowd was becoming angry. They didn't want the picture of the son.
They wanted the more worthy investments for their collections.
The auctioneer pounded the gavel. 'Going once, twice, SOLD for $10!'
A man sitting on the second row shouted, 'Now let's get on with the collection!'
The auctioneer laid down his gavel. 'I'm sorry, the auction is over.'
'What about the paintings?'
'I am sorry. When I was called to conduct this auction, I was told of a secret stipulation in the will. I was not allowed to reveal that stipulation until this time. Only the painting of the son would be auctioned... Whoever bought that painting would inherit the entire estate, including the paintings.

The man who took the son gets everything!'
God gave His son 2,000 years ago to die on the cross. Much like the auctioneer, His message today is: 'The son, the son, who'll take the son?'

Because, you see, whoever takes the Son gets everything.
FOR GOD SO LOVED THE WORLD HE GAVE HIS ONLY BEGOTTEN SON,
WHO SO EVER BELIEVETH, SHALL HAVE ETERNAL LIFE.......
THAT'S LOVE

This made my day, I hope it made yours. Have a great week!

7-27-10: A Mission trip story

Hey everyone!
Well, since on my last post I told you that I had tons of stories to tell you about my mission trip, but didn't actually tell you any, I thought I'd tell y'all some now. :)

Wednesday:
On Wednesday, it was our half day. We would work from 8:30am to 12:30 am... giving us about three hours off. Everyone was excited because the rest of the day we would spend with our youth groups, just bonding and telling stories about the past few days.
But, my (awesome!!!!!!) crew (crew 10!) finished WAY early. On both Monday and Tuesday we had worked super hard to finish this house we had. We were doing mostly interior, but we had to paint a porch and also do a sealing coat on the roof. We would have finished this house on Tuesday, but we had run out of paint for the porch. ( :( ) So, we ordered more paint and it was waiting for us on Wednesday morning.
My crew was made up of six people. Me, three other teens and two crew leaders. We only had to paint one wall, and we only had to do one coat.
We got to work as soon as we arrived and we were done just a few minutes after nine. We called TeenServe, the organization that we were with and asked if they wanted us to go help another crew, since it wasn't even 9:30am yet. But, they said no... no one really needed help, so we could just go back to the school we were staying at and hang. We were kinda upset about it at first, mostly because we were really wanted to serve, but then we realized that we could sit in the AC and just relax. Then we decided it was okay. (lol)
We got back to the school around 9:30 and we all headed into the cafeteria. We had brunch and we did our devos. I shared my testimony with my crew, it was really fun. I've never really told anyone my testimony before this trip, I did it a lot throughout it though. :D
After that our leaders disappeared and the four of us decided to play cards. We played cards from about, 10:30am until 12:25pm. Nearly two hours! It was amazing bonding time. We really got to know each other in that short period of time. I was kinda upset when everyone else started to show up... I didn't want our alone time to end! And the rest of my crew didn't either. We were really starting to become great, close friends.
I'm happy to say that right now I'm still in touch with all of my crew. It's been nearly two weeks since that time we had alone in the cafeteria. I cannot believe that my trip went by so fast, I really want to go back. It was an awesome experience, and I hope to one day see my crew again. Who knows... maybe next year. :D

Well, there yah have it. A mission trip story. :D Have a great day!

7-2-10:My Thoughts On...A popular saying

"You've done your good deed for the day",
"I've done my good deep for the day"

Sound familiar? I'm guessing they do.
Today I heard this saying again, and it really made me feel conflicted... and here, I'll tell you why.
As Christians, we're supposed to be showing a world of people who need saving a loving, caring, kind, Jesus. We are supposed to be like him while he was living here on earth. So, did Jesus just do one good deed a day and then say, "Okay... I'm done, now it's time to do some people watching."? No!! If he did, then our bibles wouldn't be nearly so full with amazing, true stories.
So, should we say that? No! We should do more than just one good thing a day.
Now do you understand me?
I was at a baseball game today, and I was with my grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and some other family members when I had heard this saying. We had a box, so I was cleaning off the counters and tables, mostly because they were a mess and felt bad for the people having to come clean later.
Something I've heard over and over again is, "Leave this place cleaner than when you got here" and I try to do just that. But, I really couldn't vacum or wipe off counters, so I was just trying to to what I could. Just to be nice.
I had walked outside to where the seats were and a few of my cousins were standing out there. I asked them to help me pick up all the cups, plates, napkins, ect. They whined and said that they really didn't want to, but I turned it into a game and they came around(;D). After it was all done, someone close to me said that saying, "there... you've done your good deed for the day." I'd heard this before and it never really bothered me as much as it had this time.
Maybe it's just because I'm an older sibling, but I do a lot of things for other people all day long. I cook, I clean, I bathe, I clothe, it's just who I am. I really enjoy doing things for other people. It gives me that warm, fuzzy feeling. :D lol
But, I think it also has to do with the fact that I'm a Christian, and I have a heart that is seeking to be on fire for Christ.
I personally believe with all my heart that we need to put others before ourselves at all times. Holding doors for others, picking up our trash so cleaning people have less to do, helping to carry bags, whatever. The last shall be first I love to say. :)
Jesus came down to serve, not to be served. Though, several people(including some of his diciples at times) thought otherwise. And I don't blame them one bit. He is the son of God! Why should He, of all people have to be the one serving?
Because... he was showing us that it doesn't matter how high up you are on that ladder... everyone should be serving.
While here, Jesus said that saying, "the last shall be first" several times. He really wanted to get that point across. If we put ourselves behind others, we will be the first in the Kingdom of Heaven. And come on, doesn't that sound worth just holding a few doors or picking up the person next to you's plate?
So the saying, "You've done your good deed for the day" I would honestly tell you I don't really like, and I don't think I personally will ever use. I don't think you can do enough "good deeds" in one day.
And, I don't think I'd call them "good deeds" either. I'd rather call them, something like, "A call of duty" or, "an honor"... okay, maybe the second one is a little high but, still... good deed just sounds a little weird to me.
Also, we shouldn't feel like we have to put others first, we should feel like we get to, we have choices. So we shouldn't feel like we have to do anything. We get to do anything.
And is it always going to be easy? Putting other first? No... it can be really hard. I was put down today, someone told me that I shouldn't be cleaning, that it was the workers' job. Yes... but it was our mess, we should at least help. I'm sure the staff was a little surprised to see that the tables were cleaned off and everything was thrown away and not just lying around on the counters and floors.
So no, it's not always going to be easy, it's not always going to be fun, and it certainly won't always be the popular thing to do,(Though it should be), but it is always the right thing. And we will be rewarded. God promised, and he never breaks his promises.
Just my thoughts,

P.S
Have a GREAT 4th everyone!!!!!!

6-29-10:YOU could be a Hero

Hey everyone, so sorry it's been like... forever since I last posted... but I've been keeping rather busy over here :)
But... that's not what I wanted to talk to you all about. Here is what is...

Heroes are made when you make a choice...

You could be a hero,
Heroes do what’s right,
You could be a hero,
You might save a life,
You could be a hero, you could join the fight,
For what’s right, for what’s right, for what’s right...

Most of us don't really realize the impact we can have on the people around us. Especially as Christians, we need to, now more than ever I think take a stand. We need to be a Hero.
And I'm not talking about the, flying through the air, punching through walls, breathing under water kind of heroes. No... to be this kind of Hero... there are only three main things you have to do...

1. A kind smile: Do you realize how much just a smile can change someones day? I have experienced this several times, I've been in a slump and then someone flashed a happy smile at me, and my attitude instantly changed that day. You could be someones Hero... just by showing them you care, with a simple smile.
2. Ask them to sit by you at lunch/church/youth group/hang out: We were not put here on this earth to be one of the "cool kids", let me just get that out of the way right now. Sure, I'll admit it. It does feel nice to be at the top... but God already has that spot filled... so we need to focus on showing his love down here a little bit more.(Cuz that is why we are here)
Just asking a kid who is always the target of a bully/bullies to sit with you during lunch, could honestly make their day... it could change what they go home and do/think about too.
Don't you love it when someone asks you to sit by them at lunch, or during church, or at youth group? Everyone loves to feel wanted... we're humans, it's part of our nature.
A simple, "Hey... you wanna sit together today?" could honestly change a life... for the better.
3.Pray for them... and then tell them: Has anyone ever told you that they are praying for you? How does that make you feel? Sure... maybe a little embarrassed at first, but don't you just suddenly feel all warm and fuzzy inside? Those people care enough to take time out of their day to just ask God to watch over you and protect you! They care about you!(These people are major Heroes in my book) Just try it, pray for that kid who is always getting picked on, and then just tap them on the shoulder someday and say, "hey... I'm praying for you." And give them a simple hug or smile. If they aren't a Christian, they're going to be completely blown away. And if they are a Christian, they probably will still be a little caught off guard.

It's all pretty simple, to be a Hero... all you gotta do is smile, show that you care, and pray. Don't you want to be a Hero?

Heroes are made when you make a choice... What choice are you going to make?

P.S
Pass along this video to all your friends... and tell them how they can be a hero too :)

6-14-10: Cell Phone VS. Bible

Got this in an email, and thought I'd share it with you...

Cell Phone vs. Bible
Ever wonder what would happen if we treated our Bible like we treat our cell phone?
What if we carried it around in our purses or pockets?
What if we flipped through it several times a day?
What if we turned back to go get it if we forgot it?
What if we used it to receive messages from the text?
What if we treated it like we couldn't live without it?
What if we gave it to kids as gifts?
What if we used it when we traveled?
What if we used it in case of emergency?
This is something to make you go....hmm...where is my Bible?
Oh, and one more thing…
Unlike our cell phone, we don't have to worry about our Bible being disconnected because Jesus already paid the bill.
Makes you stop and think 'where are my priorities? And no dropped calls!

Have a great week!

6-5-10: Amazing story

Well hello again. :)
Today I'm going to share with you a story out of my favorite devotional book. I've heard this story before from my Sunday school leader, but I just read it again in my devo book this morning.

They were singing choruses when the two soldiers entered with rifles. The service came to a halt as the Russian soldiers stared at the believers with wild eyes.
"What are you doing here?" They shouted. "Worshiping your imaginary God?" The church members cowered in the pews, wondering if there were more soldiers and more guns outside.

"All those who are faithful to God, move to the right side of the church," said one of the soldiers, his face a mask of hatred. "You will be shot for your faith. You who wish to go a home and keep your life, go to the left side. You must decide to live or die. Those who are faithful to this 'God' will die. Those who deny him can live freely."
Ten minutes earlier, everyone had sung praises equally. Now it was a question of life or death. Some stood to the left, looking sadly and waving apologetically at those on the right. Some stood on the right, their eyes closed in last-minute prayers.
"You on the left are free to go," one of the soldiers said moments later. Those people filed out, taking one last look at those who would soon be dead.
Wen only those on the right remained, the soldiers put down their weapons. "We, too, are Christians," they said, "but we wish to worship without hypocrites."*

Now isn't this story just utterly amazing?! When you first start reading it, you are sure that those are the right are going to be martyrs. But... they're not!! Those soldiers had no intent of killing anyone in that church, they just wished to worship as well... but not with people who were just pretenders.
I think about this story almost every time I enter my church. I really make sure that I'm not just there to see my friends, or to be a "good" Christian. I want to be there to learn more and more about my God.
I also question probably on a daily basis if I would be willing to die for my faith.
And right now, I'm pretty confident that I would choose to go over to the right side. Now, I know that it is a lot different to say such a thing right now, when I'm in the comfort of my home, with police who don't believe in killing anyone for their indevidual faith beliefs, just a few miles away. Would I honestly be able to answer, "yes, I am willing to die for my faith" when there is a gun pointed at my head, and all my friends and family are on the left side of the room?
Now, I'd still love to say that yes, even then I'd still go over to the right side. Though, to be completely honest with you, If I did choose that, I would probably be shaking in my boots the entire time, questioning if I should run across at the last moment.
I would really hope I would be confident in my desistion to stay on the right.

And I can honestly tell you that I would rather die a strong, true Christian, then live a life as a hypocrite.
Which would you choose?

6-4-10:SUMMER! FINALLY! YOU CAME!

YEA! YEA! YEA! YEA! (Come on, jump up and down, scream at the top of your lungs... you know you want too... summer is right around the corner!)
Finally, we can see it! Summer is almost here and I am SO excited for what the days ahead hold for me and my friends. :D :D
Biblestudy
youth group
mission trip
working at the stable

And those are just a few of the things that I cannot wait to start!
But, all this talk about summer has also got me thinking... clothes.
I don't know about you, but when I think summer clothes, I think shorts and swimsuits. Because that's just what everyone wears.
And... sometimes, they aren't that bad.
I luv my Bermuda shorts and tankinis. They are comfortable and modest.(yeah... I said it :D)
But seriously... do you ever feel nervous when summer finally does arrive? Do you really want to wear some of those shorts that have pockets that stick out two inches below the bottom of the short?(I've seen several of these already this year... yuck I know)
And do you really want to be seen in some of those swimsuits?(Like the ones that look more like... well, you know... they should be under your tee shirt and shorts... not the only thing you're wearing in public)
I know that I sometimes I start to flip out about what to wear in the summer. I have really(really) long legs, so shopping for clothes is always hard. Because sometimes, clothes that aren't supposed to be that short, actually are on me.(:P I know)
But, I recently learned a trick that I absolutely LUV! And... I'm going to share it with you.
Go to the store(walmart, target, kohls, ect.) and buy a pair of jeans or pants. Then, when you get home, put them on, and then... take a pen, perminant marker, or something like that and mark a line just about your knee. Do the same thing on the other leg. Then, take off the pants and grab a scissor. Lay the pants down on the floor and cut at the line.
What do you have now my dear readers? Bermuda shorts!!
Now, you can either roll the under and sew them so that they don't fray, or just leave them. That's what I do. Less work. lol
I luv doing this because, like I said before... shopping for summer clothes are never fun. When I get the right length, they are too big around my waist, when I get the right size, they are too short. It's a total pain. BUT this way, I can get the waist size right, and then make the shorts any length I want. :D

Summer is coming... are you going to flip out about your wardrobe? Or... look that bright yellow sun with the super cool black sunglasses in the eyes(Not litrally btw... if you look the sun in the eyes, you'll go blind) and say, "you don't scare me anymore!"?
Summer is either a dream come true or a nightmare, for 2010... what is it going to be for you?
Have a completely WONDERFUL summer!!!! Stay busy, but remember to enjoy everything God has given you a chance to do!!
God is great! Summer is almost here... what could be a better moment to just sing out, "Thank-you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
Have an amazing summer everyone,

5-21-10: Love Like Crazy

Hey everyone!
Here is a music video that I just, cannot get enough of. The song is Love Like Crazy, and it's by. Lee Brice. I first heard this song when I was in the car with my dad and after getting home I looked it up and have not stopped listening to it since... it's an amazing love song, totally luv it!!!! (have I said I love it enough for y'all? lol)

Just as him how he made it, he'll tell you faith and sweat
And the heart of a faithful woman, who never let him forget!

Be a best friend
Tell the truth
And over use, I LOVE YOU
Go to work
Do your best
And don't outsmart your common sense
Never let your prayin' knees get lazy
And love like CRAZY!

Always treat your woman like a lady
Never get too old to call her baby
Never let your prayin' knees get la-zy
And love like CRAZY!

I sing this song over, and over, and over, and over (ect.) where ever I am. My friends and I think it's such a great song. (the pre-chorus, chorus and bridge I typed out are my fave parts)

Have a wonderful week-end!

5-20-10:About me!

Hey!!!
Well, the title of this blog is called A Day in MY life, so I guess I should tell you about MY life, as in... what makes me tick. :)
The six basic things that make my life are...
1. God/My personal faith
2. Friends
3. Horses

4. Writing
5. Music
6. Family
Now, I'm just going to break those things down...

1. God/My personal faith
I try my hardest everyday to make sure God stays at the top of my life. He's definitely the most important part, so obviously should be at the top.
You have all heard me tell you over and over again how much I luv my youth group and my church. They are amazing and I just couldn't live without them. God definitely knew what he was doing when he moved my family to our current church family. :D
I believe that God has a wonderful and amazing plan for my life. I have a pretty good idea what that might be, but I'm not going to keep my ideas from letting God do what he wants with my life.
My faith is definitely top priority in my life. I try my hardest to put that into everything I do. My writing, the activities I do, the friends I have, the books I read, I do my best to make sure all of it is Christian based.(And believe me, it's not easy in this world we live in today)
My Sunday school leader once told it to me like this,
Imagine your life like a bike tire. the hub is in the middle, that is your core, your soul, and all those little spokes are all the things that make up your life(what makes you tick).
That hub is God, the part of your life he holds. So, what happens if that hub is off-centered? What will the bike wheel do?(just imagine your bike having square tires... yeah, doesn't work does it.)
If God isn't at the center of your life, then your life is not going to be smooth. Sure, we all hit those bumps in the road, and sometimes, some of them are rougher than others. But, we can always get back up and ride again(after getting patched up) because the hub stayed in the center.

2. Friends
We've all got at least one(GOD!!!). =D And, I've been blessed with several.
I don't really know where I'd be without my friends, they're amazing and I love them so much. They all play a part in my life and I cannot even start to imagine my life without any one of them. :) A saying that I think of a lot when my friends come to mind would have to be,
You're the peanut to my butter
You're the star to my burst
You're the pop to my tart
You're the fruit to my loop
But most importantly,
You're the best to my friend. ♥
3.Horses
Oh horses...:D Another HUGE chunk of my life. :)
The first time I rode a real horse(not one of those over-weight ponies that some teen is paid to walk around in a circle while you sit there on it's back going snail speed as your parents shout, "Be careful! Don't lean over to the side too far!") was in Argentina, in the mountains(I do not suggest this as a first time ride). Our path was like, two feet wide at the most and one side was just, more mountain and the other was a straight drop(probably WAY over 800 feet down)
to the lake and sharp rocks. (Yeah, I cried.)
But that was NOT my last time on a horse, I know it's kinda weird to say... but it actually make me love horses more. My horse got me out of that dangerous, scary place and back home safely! After that, I fell in L.O.V.E!!!!
I've now been riding for about four years. I couldn't even begin to imagine my life without horses... that would be a sad life, that's all I can say.

4. Writing
Ohh.... writing......
Well, what can I say? In my writing, I live in another world. I escape from reality and become a different person for just, a few hours or even just a few minutes.
I started writing actual stories back when I was probably eight or so. Those are just completely horrible let me state that right now. I shudder every time I read some of my first works.
But I think I really got into writing when I was probably 12 or so, maybe 13. I just love it so much.
Writing is as much a part of my life as breathing is. I need to do it, it's a therapy, it's part of what makes me tick. :)

5. Music
Of course! Music is a huge part of my life!
I play the harp, as I'm sure you've read before and I really enjoy it. I've been playing for about, three years now I think, and before that I played the piano for four years I'm pretty sure. And, I've been singing since I could talk(Though, now I pretty much only do it when I'm alone, I've got MAJOR stage fright, even when I'm not on stage!!)
Music is something that soothes me, I am almost always listening to music(I am right now, lol). Whether it be the radio or a CD, or a music video... I'm constantly listening to music.
I really enjoy Christian contemporary/rock the most I'd have to say(just check out my song selections for this blog, lol) but I also really enjoy new country. Especially Taylor Swift, Carrie Underwood, Julianne Hough, Rascal Flatts, those are just a few of the names I enjoy =) .

This is SOOO true. Lol

And last, but not least...
6.Family
My family is made up of 7 people. I'm the eldest of five, and yeah, it has it's ups and downs... but most of the time it's enjoyable.
I do love my parents and my siblings, they're all great and amazing people. :D

So yeah, that's what makes me tick... God/faith, friends, horses, writing, music, and family. Six, simple things that make up my life.

Have a wonderful day!

5-18-10:My Movies...Camp Rock

Now who hasn't at least heard of this popular Disney Channel Original?

Camp Rock stars the very famous brother band, the Jonas Brothers, and Demi Lovato, a Disney fan favorite(she can sing, she can act, she funny... who wouldn't love her right).
This movie is actually one of my favorites, I watch it often, and probably know most of the songs and dance scenes by heart. Lol
But, that aside, let's get talking about the story....

Camp Rock is about a teenage girl named Mitchie Torres(portrayed by, Demi Lovato) who is very talented in singing, writing songs, and all around musically, And she dreams of attending the famous music summer camp, Camp Rock and then eventually becoming a professional singer.
But, her family cannot swing the tuition. Her mother(portrayed by, Maria Canals Barrera) owns a small catering business and her father a small hardware store.
But, seeing how badly her daughter wants to attend this camp, Connie Torres(Barrera) signs on to be the camp cook, allowing Mitchie to attend the camp at a discounted rate... as long as she helps out in the kitchen with her mom.
When arriving at the camp, Mitchie is over the top excited. She can hardly wait to meet the other campers, but soon realizes that this camp is way different than she would have expected.
Tess Tyler(portrayed by, Meaghan Jette Martin) is what Mitchie's first friend, Caitlyn Gellar(portrayed by, Alyson Stoner) calls, "The Diva of Camp Rock." She's rich, talented(not nearly as talented as Mitchie, but could definitely make it to the top), and has just about everyone at Camp Rock wrapped around her finger.
Tess is also the daughter of the famous T.J Tyler, who apparently has won, "A trillion and one Grammys." (according to a very sarcastic Caitlyn)
Mitchie immediately wants to be friends with the IT girl, but finds it difficult in the beginning, for she trips Tess, making the girl instantly hate her.
EVERYONE at the camp seems to be the son or daughter of someone famous, or at least rich. Mitchie feels very out of place with her, "boring summer camp wardrobe" and being the daughter of the camp cook and a hardware store owner.
At a welcoming rally, the camp director announces that they will be having a celebrity instructor named....
That scene ends and then it goes to another one where, the famous band, Connect Three(The Jonas Brothers) are sitting in a limo and their lead singer, Shane Gray(portrayed by, Joe Jonas) is streaming mad because he, "doesn't want to spend his summer at some camp."
But, he has no choice, his sour, self centered attitude has gotten their summer tour canceled, and to get back his good boy image, he needs to work as a counselor at, Camp Rock.
After only being on campus for a few hours, Shane is found by screaming girl fans and is chased around until he ducks behind a tree(the girls I'm guessing were not good hide-and-go-seek players because he was almost in plain sight).
While the girls are looking for him, Shane hears a girl singing in the building behind him, that girl, unknown to him is Mitchie.
This famous pop star cannot believe her voice, and really likes how her song sounds. But, by the time the screaming, completely obsessed fans leave and he can stand up, the mystery girl is gone and he hasn't a clue about her identity.
That night at an open mike, Mitchie is talking with Caitlyn when Tess and her "friends(Anna Maria Perez de Taglé and Jasmine Richards)" come along and interrupt.
Desperate to fit in, Mitchie tells everyone that her mom is the President of Hot Tunes TV... in China.
Tess, already thinking that Mitchie is a HUGE competition invites Mitchie to join her and her "friends" to stay in their cabin while she's at Camp Rock.
Mitchie is ecstatic. She immediately moves in and makes friends with the three IT girls.
The next day, Shane doesn't show for his class. So, the day after that his uncle and the camp owner, Brown Cessario (portrayed by, Daniel Fathers) tells him that everything is NOT about him and that he needs to drop the act, and then escorts the super star to his class.
Shay is a complete know-it-all and kind of mean to his class in the beginning. But, then at the end, you see a side of him that Mitchie notices and takes in. A softer, kinder side that Shane probably didn't even know he'd let slip.
Shane continues to search for his, "Mystery girl" and asks several people to help him. Which, only lands him with every girl except Caitlyn(We never see her singing to Shane, so we only guess that she knows it isn't her, so why bother, she's also the only girl other than Mitchie who doesn't seem completely obsessed with the bad boy of Connect Three) and Mitchie singing to him, trying to prove that they're, "the one".
Shane and Mitchie have several encounters, and Shane tells her at one point that it's nice to have someone who gets his life. Mitchie is confused, but then remembers her lie.
"You too." She says with a smile, feeling really guilty.
Shane also writes a song about his, "Mystery girl". He shares it with Mitchie who thinks it's amazing and should put it on the next album.
With new found courage, Shane sets out and writes another song and then has his band mates(Nick Jonas and Kevin Jonas) come and sing it with him.
Shane and Mitchie share several glances, giving away the fact that there is a spark forming between them. Then, a jealous Tess sees.
Already knowing that Mitchie can sing better than her, and now seems to have won over this boy's heart that she has sought after herself, gets very angry, and says something that turns the entire camp against poor, Mitchie. Including Shane, who for the first time in a long time had been real with someone. He's heart broken, and so is Mitchie.

When I heard about this movie, the reason I wanted to see it was because I used to be a dancer and I love singing(in the comfort of my bedroom when no one is watching of course). Not because I was a Jonas Brothers fan(Which I am not really).
Now, don't get me wrong. The Jonas Brothers are some great role models I'm sure, and some of their songs are great. But, I'm not a huge fan so, could have cared less if they stared in this film or not.
Also, I did not tune in on June 21st 2008 because of the other all-star cast members(I am a fan of Demi Lovato and Alison Stoner). I was excited about this movie because of the music and dancing, and also the story line intrigued me.
I'm not going to be one of those people that pulls the whole moral of the story out and completely bore you, because I really didn't pull it out and think on it until the oh, 20 something time I'd watched the film.
The dancing was great, and so was the music. Most of it was fun and very catchy. You can tell the actors/actresses and crew poured their hearts and souls into this film.
The story line was good, it reminded me kind of HSM and HSM2, but in it's own unique way. (example; good girl, has brown hair, great voice and is quiet, bad girl, has blonde hair, good voice and gets what she wants, when she wants it, good boy, attracted to the good girl, can sing, and is popular.)
The few things that I did find that were a little odd or, not as likeable as the rest of the movie were,
1. The fact that Mitchie lied, very wrong. I don't care if you want to be popular, you never lie to get you to the top... it will only bring you back down to the bottom at some point, so it's not worth it.
2. The fact that Shane was being a brat for some of the film. He was rude and self centered. Definitely not a guy that I would be attracted too, let alone be obsessed with like some of his fans.
3. Tess is really mean. She goes after what she wants and she doesn't care who she hurts in the process of getting it, or what it takes to get her it, which tells me she doesn't really have any respect for others, or herself.
Now, I realize that this film would have no story line without any of these, so yes... they were necessary, I just thought they weren't very good parts(which is what the makers wanted I'm sure)
But the parts I thought were really great, and should be recognized were,
1. After Tess turns almost the entire camp against Mitchie, Caitlyn stays by her side. A true friend to the end.
2. Mitchie doesn't try to get revenge on Tess. She tells her off at one point, but doesn't say anything really mean about her. Just that she needs to stop treating people like dirt(basically)
3. The finale!!(Which... I'm not going to reveal, sorry!)

So all around, this film is another Disney classic. A great, happy ending for all. I'd give this a A10+(All ages, ten and up) rating.
The reason for the ten and up is because of the romance factor mostly. There is no kissing, but you can definitely tell that there is a relationship between Mitchie and Shane, so I don't think anyone younger should watch this film, unless their parents agree that it is alright with them.
The romance though, is an innocent one, there is a few scenes of the two main stars holding hands and even hugging, but that is it(remember, this is Disney we're talking about =D)
This film is actually rated TV G.

My final words...
Great film! A wonderful one to watch with your close friends with a big bowl of popcorn to share. There were a few negatives, but it was mostly a great, refreshing movie from most of today's films.

5-17-10:God Gave Me You

Hello!!!!

Well, today I thought I'd share a music video with y'all that I luv SOO much.
When I hear this song, the first thing that comes to my mind is my close group of friends. Here is the video, and then I'll explain just a little more...

God gave me you for the ups and downs
God gave me you for the days of doubt
For when I think I've lost my way
There are no words here left to say,
it's true
God gave me you

God is totally amazing, let me just get that out of the way first.
Why is he amazing??? Well, just ONE of the trillion bazillion reasons is,
He gave me the most wonderful people in my life. My friends, my youth pastor(who is now the senior pastor at my church, he will be so dearly missed in our youth group!!!)
My friends, the people I can tell anything to, they're always there for me, most of them just a text message way...
My life would definitely not be the same without them. It's so hard to explain the part of my life they hold. (just to let you know, I'm starting to tear up here...)
Honestly, if I didn't have my friends, who knows where I'd be right now, God gave me them, I wasn't sure when we all first met why, but now I know... he had a plan, and I just want to thank him SO much. They are amazing and he knew just why I'd need each and every one of them.
So yes......................
GOD GAVE ME THEM!!

Who has God given you for the ups and downs?

Heylo!!
I hope you all are having a completely wonderful Saturday!
I just thought I'd show ya'll a picture of the stationary I just made. :) I think it's very pretty, but what do you think?

Have a great rest of your week-end!!!
